25 March: UK HE sector sets out its position on the future direction of European research
The UK higher education sector has today (Thursday) released its position on the future of European research.
Universities UK President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Exeter Professor Steve Smith stressed the importance of research in a European context.
“The UK is a major research player in Europe and is keen to engage constructively with counterparts in Europe to help shape the future agenda,” Professor Smith said.

As Ministers for higher education from 46 European countries gather in Vienna today (Friday) to celebrate the formal launch of the European Higher Education Area, the UK Higher Education (HE) Europe Unit has launched a campaign to profile the UK’s role in this landmark event.
